Fishing
The creek's water quality is sufficient below Cave Springs to support a
modest trout fishery (the only one in Hamilton County). It is regularly stocked by
the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. A water quality restoration
project is underway in the upper 18 miles of the creek and its headwaters
to correct the acid mine drainage problem there and to restore a warm water
fishery.
Hunting
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency owns several tracts along the creek.
Hunting is generally allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays during
hunting season. For more information, call TWRA at 1-800-262-6704.

Canoeing and Kayaking
Canoeing is a popular activity on the lower section of the creek, with the
primary access point being at the Greenway parking area off Lake Resort
Drive. Following periods of heavy rainfall, expert kayakers head for the
gorge to challenge Class III, IV, and V rapids created as the stream rushes
around and through boulders and breakdowns from the almost vertical
sandstone walls.

Small Wild Area, and Bowater's Pocket Wilderness provide opportunities for
viewing wildlife and wildflowers.
Hiking
Easy to moderate hiking trails can be found within the Greenway and
Bowater's Pocket Wilderness; an easy trail connects the Greenway to
Greenway Farm.
